Code of Conduct¶
Our pledge¶
As participants, contributors, and maintainers, we pledge to make participation free of harassment for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Standards¶
Behavior that makes this project better
- Respecting differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
- Aiming criticism at the code and the argument, not the person — with evidence
- Owning mistakes and treating corrections as learning
- Deciding by what is best for the project, not for oneself
Behavior that is not tolerated
- Sexualized language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention
- Insults, derogatory comments, trolling, personal or political attacks
- Harassment, public or private
- Publishing others' private information — such as a physical or email address — without consent
- Other conduct that would reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting
Scope¶
This applies across all project spaces — issues, pull requests, code, reviews, and discussions — and to public activity where someone is representing the project (using an official account, speaking as a representative at an event).
Reporting¶
If you witness or experience a violation, tell the maintainer privately. The reporter's identity is protected and is not shared with third parties unrelated to handling the report.
Contact: randyinthedev@gmail.com — reaches the maintainer directly. Reaching out through their GitHub account also works.
If the maintainer is the party involved, GitHub's report abuse path is available.
Security vulnerabilities do not go through this path → SECURITY.md.
Enforcement¶
This is a solo-maintained project, so the response is best-effort: the report is acknowledged, the facts are checked, and one of the following follows. Steps may be skipped depending on severity.
| Step | When | Consequence |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Correction | Inappropriate but seemingly unintentional behavior | A private explanation of what was wrong and why, with a request to correct it; a public apology may be requested |
| 2. Warning | A single serious violation, or ignoring a correction | Restricted interaction in the affected space for a set period; breaking it escalates to step 3 |
| 3. Temporary ban | Repeated violations or sustained inappropriate behavior | Participation in the project is blocked for a set period |
| 4. Permanent ban | A pattern of violations, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward a group | Participation in the project is blocked permanently |
